Joshua’s Cottage
Introduction Joshua's Cottage is an attractive traditional granite cottage in a quiet road just 2 minutes walk from St Ives town centre, and a few minutes walk from the beaches. Joshua's cottage is significantly larger than appearances would suggest, and is actually arranged over flour floors. The accommodation comprises in brief, of a spacious living area on the ground floor, from where a staircase leads to a lower ground floor kitchen, which in turn leads out to a private walled courtyard. The first floor accommodation comprises a well appointed bathroom and two bedrooms. From the first floor landing a further staircase leads up to a delightful attic room where there are fine views over the rooftops to St Ives Bay in the distance. Entrance: From the street, the key safe is located on the left of the upvc red entrance door with coloured glass insets. A small step onto a mat well leads through to the hallway with a light switch on you right. The electricity fuse box is located above on the left - it has modern RCD trip switches. A coat rack and large, double radiator are also further along the hallway. There are fitted carpets with underlay throughout property, except kitchen and bathroom where we have vinyl flooring. Lounge / Diner: 20'6 x 14'8 (6.25mX4.47M) A triple light switch on the right controls the ceiling/wall lights, with a further 2 manually operated table lamps. Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are located above the light switch. The rooms are separated by an attractive broad archway; there are modern double glazed sash style windows to the front and rear, with integral security locks. An original Victorian style grate is a decorative feature, but is no longer functional. Light switches at the bottom of the stairs control the downstairs toilet and stairs up. The central heating thermostat is pre- programmed, but can be easily adjusted (instructions in booklet). Fire extinguisher. Door to: Separate WC: Window to rear; Washing machine; Wall mounted gas boiler, eco toilet/sink. From the hallway 9 steps down to kitchen with light switch for kitchen part way down. Kitchen: 13'2" (4.01m) x 9.0 (2.74m) (maximum). Attractively fitted with a range of white high gloss units, with stainless steel handles and granite effect work surfaces. Pre-arrival We have a comprehensive website at www.joshuascottage.co.uk with detailed information and pictures of all rooms with the latest availability and prices regularly updated. Bookings and enquiries can be made by email, telephone or by post. It is possible to arrive in St Ives by car or by public transport. The train and bus stations are situated approximately 8 minutes away on foot, which includes some uphill and downhill slopes. There is a taxi company located at the entrance to the bus and train stations (Ace Cars on 01736 797 799). The key code is emailed to the guests at least two weeks prior to their stay, along with written directions and map. There is an allocated car parking space for one car for the duration of the guest's stay. The car parking space is located in a reserved section of the Bedford road car park, approximately 2 minutes level walk from the cottage. From the car park there is a pavement down to the cottage, and a gentle slope down into town. The pavements are narrow in some areas. Visitors need to display the parking permit in their car at all times while parked in this space. The car parking information and permit will be found on the dining room table on entering the cottage, along with the visitor instruction information. Wesley Place is a quiet street with double yellow lines to indicate that there is no parking at any time. However, traffic wardens allow for visitors to stop directly outside of the cottage for a short time whilst luggage is unloaded/loaded to and from their car.
